CURRICULUM
Our educational program is enriched with activities of all subjects areas, including: Literature, Science, Mathematics, Creative Art, Music, Movement, Multicultural, Sensory and Gross Motor. Our curriculum is age-appropriate and stimulates brain development and interaction. We also have a wide array of activities for physical education. We value play in preschool and design our classroom environments to facilitate learning through any type of play. Classroom learning centers are used along with teacher directed learning activities everyday. Our teaching units are created around monthly themes which you can find posted in our classrooms and front office.

SCHEDULES
Each age group follows a daily schedule and lesson plan. We believe consistency strengthens children by providing security, and security in turn promotes independence. Children thrive on routine and our schedule provides that stability. A classroom schedule is posted for each age group in the classrooms.

NAP TIME
The center has a daily rest time from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Children should bring a crib sheet labeled with their name in black marker. The center provides sanitized rest costs and washes crib sheets every Friday.

NUTRITION
The center serves breakfast at 9 AM, a hot nutritious lunch at 12 PM and two snacks daily, one at 3 PM and another at 8 PM for our evening program. Menus are posted. Please check with the office for details if you wish to bring your child a lunch. We cannot refrigerate sack lunches, so please send an ice pack in the lunch box to keep items cold. We also cannot microwave items brought from home. Dinner is available for our evening childcare students at 6:15 pm for an additional cost of $3.50.

DISCIPLINE POLICY
The purpose of our school is to train or teach, not to punish. This school is a place to learn in comfort and security. Inner controls are not complete in children at the preschool level and it is not fair of us to expect perfect behavior from them.

Children do display and will occasionally be exposed to aggressive behavior. This may take the form of biting, hitting, pushing, or kicking. The staff uses various techniques to limit and correct such behavior, but parents must understand that when children are in a group setting, the exposure to aggressive behavior is greater than it might be at home. The purpose of discipline is to help children learn acceptable behavior and develop inner controls. When re-directing or guiding a child’s behavior, the age, intellectual development, emotional make-up, and past experiences will be considered and consistency will be maintained in setting rules and limits for children. Corporal punishment is not consistent with this objective and is prohibited at school. The following is a list of some alternative forms of discipline that will be used:

Model appropriate behavior. Tell the child what he/she can do. Establish eye contact with the child when talking to him/her. Give the child choices whenever possible. Encourage the child to problem solve and try to work out conflicts. Re-direct a child to another activity.

Remove the child from the situation. Isolate the child from the group for no longer than a minute per year of age in a separate area which is supervised by a staff member. Call a parent to come for the child if the child cannot regain control of self.
